Software Developer/Engineer x2

ThinkLeft (http://thinkleft.com.au), an IT services and software development consultancy based in Perth, Australia, is building an exciting new app that’s focused on the consumer space and will heavily integrate messaging and location data to deliver a brand new experience to our users.

Our server-side technology stack comprises Linux, Cassandra, Erlang, MongooseIM and XMPP. On the mobile front-end, we are targeting React Native on iOS for the initial release with a view to covering Android later.

ThinkLeft is looking for up to two experienced software developer/engineers.

Common requirements

General non-technical requirements:

  • Eager to learn new skills
  • Solid technical background
  • Ability for independent, analytical thinking
  • Ability for self-learning

Telecommute/telework: See below

Front end developer/engineer

Technical requirements:

  • A deep knowledge of, and hands-on experience with, javascript.
  • Experience using source control software.

Desirable requirements:

  • React Native
  • XMPP
  • Mobile development (iOS/Android)
  • A well-known javascript framework (or two)
  • git, github
  • Contributions to an open-source project highly regarded

Back end developer/engineer

  • Erlang (or else, a functional programming background).
  • Experience using source control software.

Desirable requirements:

  • XMPP, ejabberd/MongooseIM
  • Cassandra
  • Linux or BSD
  • Amazon AWS
  • git, github
  • Experience with web scale applications highly regarded
  • Contributions to an open-source project highly regarded

Prior background experience in software development is essential.

The positions are long term and of indefinite duration. Remuneration will be competitive.

We may also consider candidates who are strong at software development but new to the chosen technologies. If you've been wanting to switch to a new field, this is a good chance to do so.

ThinkLeft is based in Perth. However, most of our work is done from home so telecommuting is quite usual. We may also consider candidates from other locations in Australia.

If you’re interested in mobile/backend development, working with a fast paced and highly talented team and you love pushing the envelope, then we’d love to talk to you.

Finally, in case of a large volume of applications, we will not be able to reply to every single submission. If you do not hear from us, you did not make our shortlist.

Thank you.
